Should I Join a Podcast Network?
Should I Join a Podcast Network?

Do you have a podcast? Do you want to grow your listenership and get more exposure for your show? If so, then you may be thinking about joining a podcast network. Podcast networks are groups of podcasts that work together to promote each other’s shows by cross-promoting on social media. Most networks also offer their members benefits such as advertising opportunities and access to studio space. Before signing up with one, though, it’s important to consider the pros and cons:

“Man if I could just get on (insert network name), my show would take off. I don’t think that is…

Knowing every detail about the guest’s background can definitely help produce a valuable podcast episode as you will ask better questions. That is a given.

Does the listener really need their backstory? I think not! This post is going to cover how asking people for their “backstory” can be an immediate turn-off, as well as some tips on how to ask questions that will get them talking instead.

How many podcast interviews do you hear start with this, “Tell me a little bit about yourself?” Ugh. …

Oh no, not another Black Friday deals list. Yes, but I’m hoping one fact makes this list different. I have purchased all these products (and in this case upgraded some of my previous purchases). If you’re a podcaster (or wannabe podcaster) you might want to check these out.

Simple Sounds Preamps

Back in October of 2017, I was introduced to Simply Sound preamps. (see episode). They have a new version now that does not require you to buy an additional mic cord and plugs directly in your microphone ( if you’ve ever seen a fet head — which is around $90 — it’s…

I get the question, “How do I make a podcast like Joe Rogan?” Please let me put my tongue in my cheek and answer this question.

Joe did the following to prepare for his podcast:

1988: Started doing comedy in Boston

1994: Moves to LA six years after to do television (including News Radio)

1997: Start working with the United Fighting Championship (nine years after starting)

2000: Releases first stand up special released (12 years after he started)

2001: Start hosting Feat Factor on TV (NBC)

2003: Takes over hosting The Man Show on Comedy Central

2003: Also involved with…

Anchor.fm is a free podcasting platform that makes creating a podcast super easy. That’s the good news. In fact, I feed anchor has probably helped create a few meetings at podcast hosting companies to talk about their user interfaces. There is a dark side to Anchor, and that’s what I’m here to talk about so you can make an informed decision

Before we go any further I need to disclose I work for a competitor for Anchor and that’s a shame. I’ve been in the podcasting space since 2005, and who I work for has nothing to do with this…

Jimi Hendrix loved to play the guitar. He took one with him every place he went. He had two passions: guitars, and women. I was watching a new movie on Netflix called Jimi Hendrix Hear My Train a Comin’ which shows some never-before seen video of Jimi at the Monterey Pop festival. One of the things I love about this new footage isn’t Jimi. It’s of the audience sitting there with their minds blown as they try to comprehend what they are watching. The movie gave me some new insights on old facts.

1. Hendrix couldn’t get anything going in…
